Frequently Asked Questions

Do you struggle with some of life’s biggest questions?

You are not alone.

We’ve prepared this handy little guide to help you understand what we believe the answers are to some of the most common questions of life:

Who Is Jesus?

Dr. James Allan Francis once wrote:

"Here is a man who was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant woman. He grew up in another village. He worked in a carpenter shop until He was thirty. Then for three years He was an itinerant preacher. He never owned a home. He never wrote a book. He never held an office. He never had a family. He never went to college.

“While still a young man, the tide of popular opinion turned against Him. His friends ran away. One of them denied Him. He was turned over to His enemies. He went through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed upon a cross between two thieves. While He was dying His executioners gambled for the only piece of property He had on earth—His coat. When He was dead, He was laid in a borrowed grave through the pity of a friend.”

Flavius Josephus is the most famous Jewish historian. In his Antiquities he refers to James, “the brother of Jesus, who was called Christ.” There is a controversial verse (18:3) that says, “Now there was about this time Jesus, a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man. For he was one who wrought surprising feats....He was [the] Christ...he appeared to them alive again the third day, as the divine prophets had foretold these and ten thousand other wonderful things concerning him.”

What Is the Bible?

The Bible was written: over a 1500 year span (from 1400 B.C to A.D. 100)

  • over 40 generations
  • over 40 authors including kings, peasants, philosophers, fishermen, poets, & scholars
  • in different places (i.e. - wilderness, dungeon, palaces)
  • at different times (i.e. - war, peace)
  • in different moods (i.e. - heights of joy, depths of despair)
  • on three continents (Asia, Africa, and Europe)
  • in three languages (Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek)

It tops the best seller lists every year. World sales of the Bible are more than 100 million every year. 1 in 17 have installed Bible in their phone, that’s more than 35 million.

It’s the most shop-lifted book in history. According to the British TIMES newspaper in 1996:

"Forget modern British novelists and TV tie-ins, the Bible is the best-selling book every year. If sales of the Bible were included in best-seller lists, it would be a rare week when anything else would achieve a look in. It is wonderful, weird ... that in this godless age... this one book should go on selling, every month."

What Makes the Bible Special?

Diocletian Roman Emperor,  Born 244 AD – Died 311 AD
He ordered that every Bible be destroyed and all who owned one. Within 25 years of this decree he was dead and Rome was paying for the publication of more Bibles!

Voltaire French Philosopher and Sceptic 1694 AD – 1778 AD
Predicted that within 100 years of his death the Bible would be forgotten – Within 50 years of his death the Geneva Bible society was using his house as a Bible publishing house!

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. Matt 24:35
We believe that The whole Bible was given to us by inspiration from God. 2 Tim 3:16 TLB

When we speak, it communicates who we are. The written Word of God reflects who God is: powerful, truthful, sets people free and offers Life to those who devote themselves to Him.

We don’t realise how powerful this book is!

If God is Love - Why is there So Much Suffering?

There is suffering because of sin - our own free will and choice.

I love my children, Teaching then to ride bike, but I have to let them go, I can’t control them all the time. I know that they will fall and get hurt sometimes. Yet, I’m there to help them up again. Eventually they’ll grow up and I have to let them have their own life. I will always love them.

Mankind has rejected God; all is not well on Planet Earth. It works for our cause, not against it. All these things, pain, disease, droughts, tornadoes, earthquakes, etc. should cause the thinking person to investigate the claims of God's Word, and see its explanation.

It’s like a ball in motion, God is not just going to stop everything, but occasionally, He does.

It’s important that we trust God’s purposes in the midst of suffering, even when we don’t know that those purposes are. Suffering, like all other human experiences, is directed by the sovereign wisdom of God. In the end, we learn the lesson that we may never know the specific reason for our suffering, but we must trust in our sovereign God. That is the real answer to suffering.

Romans 8:28 contains some comforting words for those enduring hardship and suffering: “We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” In His providence, God orchestrates every event in our lives—even suffering, temptation and sin—to accomplish both our temporal and eternal benefit. Christians serve a God who has lived on this earth and been through trauma, temptation, bereavement, torture, hunger, thirst, persecution and even execution, the cross of Christ can be regarded as the ultimate manifestation of God’s justice. When asked how much God cares about the problem of evil and suffering, the Lord Almighty is the only God who can point to the cross, and say “That much!”

Why is there so many religions? How do I know who is right?

There are many counterfeits, Satan wants confusion, he knows that within mankind is the need to worship God. ‘God has set eternity in the heart of man’ Ecc 3:11

In any other ‘religion’ you will not find a gift, or a love like this:

God sent part of Himself in the form of man, Jesus, as a gift to die as the ultimate sacrifice for the whole of mankind.

Christianity is the only religion that recognises the Supreme God as Love. In other ‘religions’ the supreme being is set forth as an angry being and in constant need of appeasing.

Jesus says He is the Way, Truth, Life no one comes to the Father (God Almighty) but through Him John 14:6

Do all religions lead to God? In a way they do: judgment!

Only one—Christianity—leads to His forgiveness and eternal life. No matter what religion a person embraces, everyone will meet God after death (Hebrews 9:27). All religions lead to God, because everyone will come before Him, but only one religion/relationship will result in God's acceptance, because only through His salvation through faith in Jesus Christ can anyone approach Him with confidence. The decision to embrace the truth about God is important for a simple reason: eternity is an awfully long time to be wrong. This is why right thinking about God is so critical.

Romans 1:19-21 contains the biblical explanation for why there are so many religions. The truth of God is seen and known by every human being because God has made it so. Instead of accepting the truth about God and submitting to it, most human beings reject it and seek their own way to understand God. But this leads not to enlightenment regarding God, but to futility of thinking. Here is where we find the basis of the “many religions.”

What About Creation & Evolution?

Download our Pocket Guide

Some scientists believe in something called ‘Intelligent Design’.

One thing that is prevalent is the discovery fo various fossils - however there are no intermediate fossils, (Creatures changing from one form to another) - Just fully formed fossilised animals. The fossil record reflects the original diversity of life, not an evolving tree of increasing complexity. There are many examples of "living fossils," where the species is alive today and found deep in the fossil record as well.

In the entire fossil record, there is not a single clear transition form proving a connecting relationship between any two species. From the billions of fossils we have discovered, there should be thousands of clear examples if they existed. The lack of transitions between species in the fossil record is what would be expected if life was created.

Imagine this: A massive explosion occurs in a volcano, lava flowed, then, after hundreds of years  - the iron ore formed into links and tiny cogs. Sand was heated and turned to liquid, before it solidified into a small circular glass shape. Eventually, all of these elements evolved, coming together to form a beautiful watch!

No one would believe this!! Because a watch is made/created for a reason and a purpose.
But yet people will believe the same has happened with human beings who are far more complex!

The science of Thermodynamics (which is accepted by all scientists, not a theory) says that anything left to itself eventually gets worse, not better. It deteriorates, decays and dies.

The Second Law of Thermodynamics is the Law of Energy Decay. It states that the Universe's total supply of useful energy is decreasing toward zero.

Scientists say in order for something to be considered a “science,” it must be able to be observed and tested. The origin of the universe and the origin of life cannot be tested or observed. Both creation and evolution are faith-based systems in regards to origins. Neither can be tested because we cannot go back billions (or thousands) of years to observe the origin of the universe or of life in the universe. Evolutionary scientists reject creation on grounds that would logically force them to also reject evolution as a scientific explanation of origins.

Evolution, at least in regard to origins, does not fit the definition of “science” any more than creation does.

This is foolishness! Scientists who advocate evolution are rejecting a plausible theory of origins without even honestly examining its merits, because it does not fit their illogically narrow definition of “science.”

If creation is true, then there is a Creator to whom we are accountable. Evolution is an enabler for atheism. Evolution gives atheists a basis for explaining how life exists apart from a Creator God. Evolution denies the need for a God to be involved in the universe.

Who Created God? Where Did He Come From?

Everything which has a beginning has a cause.

The universe requires a cause because it had a beginning.

God, unlike the universe, had no beginning, so doesn't need a cause. Since God, by definition, is the creator of the whole universe, he is the creator of time. Therefore He is not limited by the time dimension He created, so has no beginning in time God is the high and lofty One that inhabits eternity (Isaiah 57:15). Therefore He doesn't have a cause.

Am I An Atheist?

I always say that an atheist has a lot of faith, because they believe in nothing! Their faith and belief system is based on the unknown.

If I were to make an absolute statement such as, "There is no gold in China," what is needed for that statement to be proven true? I need absolute or total knowledge. I need to have information that there is no gold in any rock, in any river, in the ground, in any store, in any ring, or any tooth in China. If there is one speck of gold in China, then my statement is false and I have no basis for it. I need absolute knowledge before I can make an absolute statement of that nature. Conversely, for me to say, "There is gold in China," I don't need to have all knowledge. I just need to have seen a speck of gold in the country, and the statement is then true.

To say categorically, "There is no God," is to make an absolute statement.

Owing to a lack of knowledge on your part, you don't know if God exists. So, in the strict sense of the word, you cannot be an atheist.
